Building Permit

The 2011 Bistro season is upon us, and Marge and Marge have an exciting surprise for their patrons! (Don't be confused by the names on the building permit, the Bistro owners had to use alias's to keep the paparazzi at arms length.)

The SchierZenn Bistro is in the midst of a complete makeover of the outdoor Bistro! Not only a deck expansion, it also includes a famous Dustin Feider tree house! His calendar has been pretty full lately so Marge and Marge booked him in early March to make sure they would finally get the long awaited treehouse masterpiece!

As soon as Dustin and Heather are back from their super secret commercial that they are filming in San Diego the magic will start to happen at the SchierZenn Bistro.

Take a good look at this bistro picture – it will be completely different

by the end of summer!

Signing off for today!

New SchierZenn Logo

This Christmas was pretty exciting at the indoor SchierZenn Bistro. Dustin was downstairs operating the table saw, band saw and other assorted power tools for a very long time. Lots of noise, secrecy and excitement going on down there! Now, Dustin has come up with some pretty amazing (weird) things in the past while he has been working feverishly in the basement, so we are always cautious about our excitement. But this year he outdid himself by his inception of the new SchierZenn Bistro logo. We have been asking him for years to create this logo but I guess he needed to be in the spirit, and in the space. Maybe it was extra special because both he and his girlfriend from Brazil were here for an extended stay so everyone was living the Bistro life. Anyway, as you can tell from the picture, we were elated.

First, we were wondering what it was exactly. It looked musical, which we loved, but not quite sure what else it was. Then Dustin pointed out the S and the Z creatively entwined together to form the SchierZenn Logo. Genius.

We have a real treat in store for the bistro regulars and the bistro virgins! Coming in Spring 2010: a variety of before, during, and after dinner drinks, to include, yet not limited to, some of the old time favorites!

Here we’re showing off our first shipment of exotic mixers for the new season.

There will be specialty drinks from Italy, Jamaica, and Ireland, and of course the old stand-by favorites for those of you averse to change!

To keep you warm through the winter season (until the bistro patio opens), the newest cocktail delight named “Heaven”, includes Tia Maria, Brandy, Irish cream liquor, hot coffee, and is topped off with vanilla whipped cream. Winter at the Bistro

The SchierZenn Bistro has closed it's outdoor seating area for the season. Up until the snow on December 9th the heater was used in full force but with the recent snow storm the patio has been officially closed.

Norm is enjoying the snow immensely as you can tell from the photo. She is off of snow blowing duty until her hand has completely healed and she has been released from the Dr. Marge is not very happy about this but will do what it takes to take care of the snow.

The indoor seating at the Bistro has quite beautiful ambiance especially during the holidays but you must call ahead for reservations as seating is quite limited. We are already booked for New Year's Eve. Sorry if you did not get your reservation in on time.

Re-Uniting

It's sad sometimes when it takes the death of a loved one to bring family back together, but if that's how it happens, seize the moment. Catch up, laugh, cry and then don't let the time slip by again. That is my promise to Kris and Herb. I always admired my cousin Kris and her husband Herb, and time hasn't changed that at all. We had the pleasure of their company at the SchierZenn bistro last night and it was spent trying to catch up on the last several years. It's clear that we need many more hours together to truly catch up. The weather was perfect for bistro virgins. Warm and balmy but just enough cooling down after dinner to enjoy a fire and a little more laughter. After they left I started searching my photo closet to see if I could find the Kris and Herb I remembered in my High School years, and as you can tell below, I found them! What is burned in my memory is the photo of them driving away on Herb's motorcycle. I think they were off to some commune, at least that's the romantic story in my head.

They haven't changed much - it is obvious how much respect and love they still have for one another. It warmed my heart to see that two people can still be just as much in love as they were so many years ago. Even after the stressful months they had caring for their mom, they still are filled with laughter and fun. And they still look exactly the same.

Ahhh, yes, the bistro has a magical effect on people and conversation; no matter what the topic is you know that you can be yourself and not be judged.

2009 Season Review

SchierZenn Bistro Opens for the Season

By: Richard Parker
Published: June 10, 2009

The SchierZenn Bistro is open once again and so far, it looks to be a promising season. I have visited this Canadian palace a few times already although the first few visits were decidedly pre-season.
A few of the Bistro’s southern guests seen with one of the regulars. The first visit…I was at the bistro mid May and was fortunate enough to visit with a few southern bistro mainstays. What I experienced was a night filled with laughter and merriment fitting of these two out-of-town gems. Everyone knows that the south is known for their hospitality, story telling and down home genuineness and these two seemed right at home. It was downright impossible to distinguish the visitors from the guests which seems to be the hallmark of a great visit.

The next visit…This visit was multi-purposed as it included the viewing of one of this century’s greatest shows. That’s right, the bistro opened it doors for an invitation-only party to watch the seasons last few episodes of Lost. Let me tell you…getting on the list for this event was not easy but well worth all the bribes, begging and sheer pleading. There was an incident where one of the guests was scolded for spilling a little (we’re talking miniscule here) mango salsa, but the show’s emotional rollercoaster is probably to blame. All was forgiven and said guest was not banished nor was (s)he ridiculed for too long. The most disconcerting part of the evening was when Marge referred to Marge as “Nancy.” My best research tells me that this is some kind of code name with an unknown origin. It was weird.

Recently…I received a last minute invitation to enjoy one of the only nice nights we’re likely to have this season at the bistro. I found the entire evening quite agreeable. This night was the official opening of the bistro season and included the bistro staple dessert…s’mores. There is really nothing sweeter than ending a week at the bistro.

It looks as though the SchierZenn bistro is poised to have another fantastic season. They have even made a few additions. The most noticeable is the addition of a full bar. Ask Marge for the specials, but make sure you have a driver. Another addition is the lovely new sink in all its glory. It adds an elegance to the kitchen fitting for such a fine establishment. Lastly, the bistro has added a wine glass holder to one of the seats. It’s a nice touch and one that did not go unnoticed by this reviewer.

Happy Mom's Day

A Happy Mother's Day message from Dustin.

Ok, he's laying on a beach in shorts and Sheila and I spent the day mulching, there's just something wrong with that!

Both of my kids remembered to call me today and that's all I needed to make it a great day!
